There will be a new name in Cebu’s hotel scene – the Wyndham Hotel Group.
The renowned hotel group announced that it will be extending its network of accommodations in the Philippines by introducing three more brands in three years.
Barry Robinson, president and managing director of Wyndham Hotel Group Southeast Asia and Pacific Rim, said during a media interview, that there will be at least six brands in the Philippines in the next three years. He mentioned that there will be a Microtel, TRYP by Wyndham, Days Inn, Ramada and Wyndham Hotels and Resorts. It is also likely that they will be adding Ramada Encore, Dolce or Super 8. He also revealed that the hotel group is targeting to hit all segments in the Philippines.
Wyndham Worldwide, the largest hospitality company in the world has 9, 000 hotels in 80 countries. These hotels have 900, 000 rooms under 20 different brands.
In the Philippines, the group has partnered with Phinna Microtel for Microtel Hotels and TRYP by Wyndham.
Jose Mari del Rosario, Phinma Microtel president, shared that the TRYP will open in key locations in 10 years. Locations being considered are Cebu, Batangas, and others. He added that Cebu will likely have two TRYPs.
He revealed that the number of rooms for the TRYPs will vary as this is determined by the market. He said that a 300-room TRYP is doable. The Manila TRYP has 191 rooms and caters mostly to young, modern travelers.
The Manila TRYP has restaurants, meeting rooms, rooftop pool, fitness center, and concierge. Rooms also vary to cater to different travelers. There are Family rooms with bunk beds. The Fitness Room also has exercise equipment, and a media room with high-tech multimedia. It is likely that the Cebu and Batangas properties will have similar facilities.
The hotel group established Wyndham Services Asia Pacific (Philippines) Inc. in the Clark Freeport in Pampanga. It employs 200 people in different series, public relations, copyright designers, IT, finance, and reservations post.
Wyndham is headquartered in New Jersey and has a reported profit of $570 million in 2017.
