Real Estate Developer, Megaworld Corp., has set its bar higher as it launched its newest and first school venture worth P240-million school project within their 30-hectare township The Mactan Newtown in Lapu-lapu City.
In a statement, Megaworld confirmed that it is ready to open the Newtown School of Excellence this coming school year 2018-2019, which will offer primary school momentarily.
According to Megaworld, the construction of the building started last 2014 with the partnership of De La Salle Brothers through the Lasallian Schools Supervision Services Association Inc. (LSSSAI).
The Newtown School will have two main buildings, one for the Kindergarten level that consists of three classrooms, a playground, library, and multi-purpose hall. It will also have a 5-storey elementary building with 21 classrooms, audio-visual rooms, music room, computer rooms, an auditorium, home economics room, a clinic and its own canteen.
The curriculum of Newtown School of Excellence will be technology-based, said Megaworld.
The said institution is situated along the entrance of Mactan Newtown township along the Mactan Circumferential Road. It is located near the heritage of the Mactan Shrine, Lapu-Lapu shrine and popular hotel and resorts.
Noli D. Hernandez, president of Megaworld Cebu Properties Inc., said the school primarily attracts students within the township especially the ones living in their condominium developments.
“We will also cater to the children of the expat community and residents of Lapu-Lapu City and nearby towns and cities as well as the children of those working in nearby businesses and business process outsourcing companies,” he added.
Hernandez clarified that being in Mactan Newtown, students will have access to the beachfront and allowing students to utilize beach facilities for school activities. He added that the school will provide exceptional education program through the reputable brand of LSSSAI with the improvement of the quality of life of the future generation as its primary goal.
Megaworld has already expressed its plan to complete the P30-billion Mactan Newtown Project from 2013 to 2023. Also set to rise are residential condominiums, office towers, hotels, mall and commercial centers as well as beach clubs.
The Mactan Newtown is one of the 23 integrated communities being developed by Megaworld across the country. This is apart from the 640-hectare development in Antipolo Rizal, called the Eastland Heights, and the 35.6- hectare in Pampanga named Capital Town where the company is set to spend P30 billion in the next 10 years.
